With Spring break approaching and the end of senior year coming right after, students are finding excuses to hit happy hour more often than usual. While most seniors have tried out Sante Fe Grill, a prime happy hour spot on Main Street- it’s time to get creative and sample some of the other superior options.
Whether you’re more into margaritas or dying for some Dogfish Head bear, students are lucky enough to have a variety of options close by and of course, everyday of the week.
Here are some of the best happy hour options:
Santa Fe Grill- One of the few places that serve Monday- through Friday frmo 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. Come in for their delicious $2.99 margaritas, $2 Dos Equis, half- price sangria and even half off some of their appetizers.
Home Grown- Monday- Friday from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m., serving half price appetizers (which is the best food deal on Main Street) and discounted drinks like their $3.00 margaritas and wine specials. They also have daily specials like Monday’s $3 wine $2 and $4 draft specials. Try the crab fondue appetizer, I promise you’ll thank me.
Catherine Rooney’s- This place runs strictly by daily specials so pay attention. Monday’s are $2 domestics, $7 Yuenglings and $6 burgers. Tuesday boasts 45 cent wings and half price wine. Wednesday give sou $4 tall Jack Daniels drinks and $7 Miller Lites and Yuenglings. Thursday has $3.50 Dogfish and “Martini Madness”for $3-$4, and Friday takes the cake with a free happy hour buffet, half price apps and $1.50 off all Drafts and Drinks from 4 pm- 7pm.
Kildare’s- May have the most complex happy hour calendar, but is worth figuring out. Monday has 35 cent wings and $3 Guinness. Tuesday’s best deal is their $5 burgers (go for the barbeque) Wednesday has $2 Blue Moons and Thursday has 1/2 price nachos plus $ bomb drinks and $2 rail pints.
Timothy’s- This happy hour may be a bit of a walk for most students on campus, but it comes with its rewards. Happy hour runs Monday- Friday from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. with a free buffet from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
Klondike Kate’s- Mondays mean half price burgers and $2.25 Miller Lites, Bud Lights and Coors Lights along with $3 vodka drinks. Tuesday follows the same drink specials but has amazing half priced nachos (try the buffalo variety) with $5 domestic light pitchers from 4 p.m.- close. Thursdays are half price wings all day, with a taco bar happy hour from 4 p.m.- 7 p.m. and $5 domestic light pitchers 4 p.m. to close.
La Tonalteca- Has some of the strongest but best margaritas for $3 on Wednesdays all day long- which is of course dangerous, but great.
So there you have it- I wouldn’t recommend trying them all in a week, but for your last few months of senior year, there are definitely some delicious options.
